Hi life legend Rex Owusu Marfo popular known as Rex Omar on Koforidua based Kingdom 101.9 fm Saturday, 29th September 2018; with Londona host of Pimpinaa Entertainment Show made it clear that "Hi life can never be Afro pop".


Today every young musician is classifying his or her music under Afro pop even if it has hi life projection but for all he knows afro pop means African Popular Music and for that matter every music played in Africa that doesn't have a meaning is classified under afro pop so dont play hi life and call it afro pop.


Abiba hitmaker added, Hi life is still reigning and will reign forever because is from Ghanaians way of life, it is the Ghana traditional music being played with foreign instrument. Even if its fused in rap it's still a hi life tune because light soup does not change because of the kind of meat. He illustrated.


It is because we are loosing confidence in ourselves and in our crafts as a nation thats why we want to create impression that hi life is outmoded but is not true, hi life is still a high class tune. It takes a musician to do hi life, it is not cheap and must have a proper codial progression. if only you want an easy way out, then you'll play the afro pops. he compared.


That not withstanding, if you monitor the young ones music (Kwami Eugene, King Promise, Kidi, KOO Kyei and co) you see the progression is hi life but still wants to call it afro pop.
