NEW COMPLEX SPORTS STADIUM FOR NEW EDUBIASE

The Minister for Youth and Sports Hon. Isaac Asiamah has today visited the New Edubiase abandoned sports Stadium with an assurance to uplift the facility to a modern multipurpose sports complex.
The abandoned Ashanti region based facility was handed over under the erstwhile government but have since been truncated for the last 2 years due to lack of funds.
An initial GH¢4.5 million was awarded for the face phase of the project excluding the running track and the dressing rooms.



Speaking to the media at the yet to be completed sports facility, Honorable Isaac Kwame Asiamah confirmed plans from the current government to uplift the facility to a multipurpose complex.  
“I have given the contractor one week to design while we proceed. We have not sacked anyone. The contractor is here with us, the consultant is also here, we want them to redesign this project to be a Modern Standard of sporting infrastructure”, Hon Isaac Asiamah told the media present.  
“What we are asking them is that, if it is an athletics running tracks, it should be of standard of that International one, if it is a football pitch, it should be the Standard of what we all know”, the sector minister added.
The sector minister has overseen the sod cutting for a number of multipurpose sports facilities across the country.
A cheque of GH¢1 million has already been given to the contractor for the resumption of the construction work.
